Children's Services

At LKEE Children’s Services, we provide a safe, warm and nurturing residential home for children and young people aged 7 to 17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Our practice is founded on relationships, emotional safety and personalised support, helping each child feel secure, valued and able to grow at their own pace.

Specialist Therapeutic Residential Care

We offer high quality, trauma informed care for children who cannot remain in their family home. Orion Lodge provides a small, family style environment where children feel safe, understood and supported.
Our approach encourages emotional, social and personal development, helping children build confidence, trust and a sense of belonging.

Relationship-based Practice

Care at Orion Lodge is guided by the Secure Base model, PACE principles and trauma informed thinking.

These approaches help children:

  • Build resilience
  • Understand and regulate their emotions
  • Feel safe in relationships
  • Make sense of past experiences
  • Develop confidence at home, in school and in the community

Our team use predictable routines, empathy and curiosity to support children through challenges and successes.

Education, Routines and Life Skills

We work closely with schools, tutors, Virtual School teams and alternative providers to ensure each child receives the education that best meets their needs.
Where a return to formal education is not immediately possible, we support structured learning at home or through trusted partners.

Alongside education, we help children develop essential life skills, such as:

  • Daily routines
  • Personal care
  • Social skills
  • Confidence in the community
  • Independence tasks suitable for their age

We want every child to feel prepared for the future, in a way that feels safe and achievable for them.

Belonging, Connection and Family

We aim to create a strong sense of belonging at Orion Lodge, with trusted relationships and a warm, welcoming environment.
Where appropriate, we support positive contact with family members and significant people in the child’s life, in line with plans agreed with social workers.
We encourage children to take part in community activities, develop interests and build relationships that support their emotional wellbeing and identity.
